The right-wing also invented mucus

I have a marathon cold. It started Dec. 23rd and hasn't let up since. Things not normally available in nature are coming out of my nose. I'm now convinced this virus is also a right-wing conspiracy designed to keep me from working for peace and justice. How can I volunteer for Al Franken when breathing is questionable?

Mucinex is from Satan, I tell you. Not only is that character disgusting, but now they've got people all over the US saying "mucus". Yuck.

Mucus is only slightly bettter than phlegm and phlegm better than sputum. Here is how dictionary.com defines sputum:
spu·tum (spyōō'təm) Pronunciation Key
n. pl. spu·ta (-tə)
Matter coughed up and usually ejected from the mouth, including saliva, foreign material, and substances such as mucus or phlegm, from the respiratory tract.
I like the ejected from the mouth part. Mmmmmmm, sputum.

Well that's me right now - the Queen of sputum.

I like the fact that there's a plural for sputum. I'd never thought about that before, though I'm not sure what occasion would arise where you'd use the plural.

Use that in a sentence, eh?

MNMom coughed, issuing forth several large yellow sputa that, although they missed Michael, struck Scott in his open mouth mid-sentence.

I think you'll find ways to use it. :o)

Large hunks of supta caused me to gag horrendously, which in turn brought about much gagging and general disgust among my nearest family members.

Ewww... I am no longer a fan of the word 'sputa.' Thank you so much...

Who knew mucus could be such fun?
