Am I Dreaming?

Someone pinch me, I think I'm dreaming . . .
Is Barack Obama now officially our President?
Did George W. Bush really fly away from Washington, never to disgrace the White House again?
Is Dick Cheney really deposed?
Is our current President really smart? and educated? and well read? and thoughtful?
Did America truly transcend its racism and elect a black man?
Is MY SIDE really in charge?

My tears of joy didn't start flowing until Beyonce sang "At Last" to the Obamas during their first dance as President and First Lady. I was at work all day, a bit unseemly to cry at work.

What a great day. If I'm dreaming, don't wake me up.

I was lucky to turn it on at work... I told one of my students to get to work... and he said "this is just too exciting"

My moment of awe was halfway through the speech, when I checked http://www.whitehouse.gov and Obama's face appeared. I couldn't believe the day had come. I'm 30, so most of my adulthood has been under W. I think my brain forgot that anything else was possible.

Greeeaaat Day, Great Day the Dems are marching, Greeeaaat Day, God's gonna build up all them wrongs. can you hear the song?? I've changed the words a bit here, but you'll remember it. Just got back from our local inaugural ball, GOOD TIME! We danced and danced and danced and hugged and danced and hugged and danced some more. Okay, yes, there was a cash bar, but we are soooo happy!!!!!!

MizBubs described a wonderful scene at the library during the swearing in and speech--about 20 patrons, along with the registration desk and check out staff, standing around the flat screen monitor in the lobby watching the ceremony. She said there was a tangible feeling of joy and fellowship in the group, with one of the women passing around a box of kleenex to the 5 or 6 who were crying.

Well, at the risk of being hooted down...

"Is MY SIDE really in charge?"

Well... 'your side' gets the chance to lead, to elicit cooperation, to foster that change we heard so much about.

Those in the middle and even those rightwingnuts surely want 'you' to be successful beyond your ...err ..._our_ wildest dreams.
