I've noticed that I can't watch much political television or news lately. I have to take it in small doses to keep from getting really angry or really depressed.
What's bothering me most is this misguided belief that everyone who is now in financial trouble is there because they were reckless and greedy and trying to make a quick buck off the system or buying things they knew they couldn't afford.
This idea leaves no room for the reality for so many of us. Job loss, pay cuts, a changing family situation, death, illness. Add to that the macro effects of higher fuel costs, and increases in the cost of essentials like electricity, groceries, clothing, etc. and you have a real mix of things that can lead to trouble.
None of that is taken into account, though, when you here these judgmental, sanctimonious nimrods holding forth on how the guy who can't afford his three bedroom 1.5 bath ranch should've never believed that he could have such a lavish abode, a palace! in the first place.

I hear you, I totally hear you.
Yep, I agree with Lisa 100%. The news is absolutely despairing to me. Terrifying, too.

How are YOU surviving the recession?
