Couldn't have said it better myself

"Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear."

Harry S. Truman
Special Message to the Congress on the Internal Security of the United States.
August 8, 1950

Girl I thought you were just funny, full of jokes. But you're not just a funny blogger, you're a thinker. That quote says it all. Would someone write that on big poster boards and mail 'em to W. so that Dick Cheney can read it to him and then translate it into Hillbilly jibberish so he can understand it?

Amen sistah- how true is that?

Oh yes, and with that quote were you thinking about the reports coming from Denver about the "Gitmo on the Platte" facility prepped to hold the protesters?

They don't come out with fantastic quotables like that any more. All we get are:

"There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee...that says, fool me once, shame on...shame on you. Fool me...you can't get fooled again."

Unrelated to post content-

to answer your question (which I meant to do earlier!) it is a sage smudge stick!!

Although it looks like a giant spliff!

What an excellent and timely message. Man--if you don't know history, you're doomed to repeat it.

Oh, and Fran, it does look like a fatty. I was wondering about that myself.

Had to link up to that one.
