Let's hear it for the mundane

It's been a weekend of the mundane, and that's OK. Piles of laundry means we have enough clothing. Stacks of dirty dishes means we have food. Dirty floors means we have a house. Beds to make means we have a warm place to sleep. I'm easily grateful and entertained by Life's little pleasures.

As I'm doing all these work-a-day chores I'm ruminating on my favorites and the ones I loathe. Here is my list. I want to hear from you. Where do you fall on this spectrum? Because it's Mundane March, that's why.
Holy Mackeral, could there be a more BORING POST in the history of blogging?

Chores that are like fingernails on a chalkboard to me:

Putting away clean dishes/emptying the dishwasher
Cleaning the frig
Cleaning bathrooms
Putting away groceries

Chores that are just meh, take-em or leave-em
Sweeping
Vacuuming
Dusting

Chores I actually don't mind, and border on liking
Washing dishes
Laundry
Raking
Baking and sometimes cooking
Cleaning the garage

I tend to have the same preferences you do. Removing clean dishes from the dishwasher is the worst! And like you I don't actually mind washing the dishes. So does this mean we should just not have dishwashers?

Mine are pretty close to yours! A job I also hate is cleaning out the car...there are weeks that we live in that thing and everything gets left there...shoes, toys, food and food wrappers...ugh... it is like a compact studio apartment!

I absolutely hate dusting and my husband is alergic to dust, so I have to do it regularly. Another thing I hate to do is mop the floors, but with a two year old, it's a MUST on a regular basis.

I got two laundry baskets full of clothes and a head cold that just won't quit. That's a bad combination! But after reading this blog, I'd better be glad I got a job, that I had to wear clothes to--cause it could just be filled with night gowns and house robes because I don't have a job to go to!

I was just bout to complain that I ain't want to do the laundry, but you done put things in perspective for me girlfriend! You do it every time...

Boring? I beg to differ.

I don't like to dust so much anymore so I combine it with something I do like to do. I like to vacuum. When I do it, I attach the brush to the hose and use it to "dust."

I also kind of like doing laundry because I can go to the basement, turn on the t.v. and get work done without being bothered.

I'm not wild about cleaning bathrooms. I'm over washing my car. I'd rather take it to be washed, though I haven't done that in ages.

I love to iron. It's very meditative.

I like your attitude about chores. Having them does mean you have a place to live and the creature comforts you need.

I don't mind chores so much. What I do mind is when certain people (they know who they are) expect me to go beyond basic maintenance and put THEIR dirty clothes in the laundry basket, wipe up THEIR spills, and pick up THEIR clutter. Having to dig their underwear or shoes out of the trash usually refreshes their memory, though.

If we had to take a "similarity" quiz - we would be twins. I equally share your feelings on the listed tasks. I have to say - if I have to mop a floor - it will be close to condemnation before I get A friend once told me (for those who enjoy this) that NOTHING happens if you DON'T "Spring clean." I took that to heart.

I'm happy for Lisa...she still has an IRON! I may have one - somehwere.

I don't have a dishwasher who isn't me, but it's my biggest fantasy. I hate doing dishes.

My daughter does all the laundry, because she's all uptight about it and I don't care.

I actually don't mind vacuuming. It's instant gratification. Cleaning the nasty bathroom is another matter. I'd love to pay someone to do that chore.

There's some weird Iowa City rule that says you're not supposed to wash your car at your home, but I do sometimes anyway, and haven't gotten busted for it yet.

Churlita - wash your car on your lawn using eco-friendly soap. It goes right into the ground.

I don't mind shoveling or minor fix-it jobs even though my girlfriend might tell you different.

I really don't mind cleaning the bathrooms, but I've delegated that job to my guys. It's the only way I can get them to hit the toilet when they pee. ;)

I love to cook and thrive on the challenge of creating a varied menu on a limited budget.

My hates are the same as Kirby's. My guys are walking clutter machines and would drown in their own filth if I wasn't here.

I hate dusting the most, probably because I've collected so much stuff that I need to dust. Expensive, collectible junk that I can't just throw away you know. I've been giving stuff away however so eventually I won't have that problem anymore.

I hate picking up after others like kirby said. I don't mind cleaning up after myself.

Most hated chore: Cleaning up the kitchen.........ugh. separating laundry, or putting it away. I don't enjoy grocery shoppping.

chores that are eh: vacumming, sweeping, mopping.

Choes I actually enjoy: cooking, folding laundry
