Cracking me UP!

You people are totally freakin hilarious!

First good laugh of the day came from my cousin Anne, a nurse, and if you knew her Pulmonologist husband it would be even funnier:

"I just got home from Sam's Club where everybody and his dog who lives in the north hills was stocking up on milk for the expected 3 feet of snow. I drove into the garage and Husband popped his head out of the back door and jumped to my assistance to haul in the groceries - just a few things, really. Unfortunately, the 3-can pack of Dow Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner was on top - and he tripped and the cellophane-covered 3-pack landed right on it's nose on the kitchen floor. The lids broke on all three - and the white foam comes spraying out - and under pressure from the clear-wrap. Like a surgeon extricating a foreign body out of someone's gut, Husband swoops to pick up the foamy monster and throw it in the kitchen sink - it only continues to explode and foam and the next thing I know he's performing some kind of Heimlich maneuver and the spray adjusters are going nuts and he's covered with foam and now really trying to hog-tie a greased pig. The green hard-plastic canister tops are all splintered and he's tearing away the plastic wrap likes its clothing and he's got to stop arterial bleeding. I tell you, by this point I am just doubled over in painful laughter. "What's this scrubby bubble for anyway???" The look on his face - so serious - like he was really in a full code - if only we had paddles: "Charge to 300! CLEAR!!"

He honestly thought I was crying - but I was just laughing so hard.

When I told him it was bathroom cleaner, he gave up all heroic measures and the hissing subsided. And then, after he just abandoned all efforts and left the foamy corpses in the kitchen sink, he looks at me real serious.

"Honey. Don't worry. We can get more."

My #2 good laugh was here at Skyler's Dad's blog.

My #3 was here at Grant Miller Media

#4 was Dr. Monkey's Science Day!

Northwoods Lake

Had a fab-u-lous weekend with The Wonderful MG at his new cabin in the northwoods of Wisconsin. He and his Lovely Partner purchased a serious slice of heaven on the edge of the clearest lake around. Like MG says, it's basically a bowl of sand filled with perfect water. We spent the weekend doing exactly as we had been instructed to do by our hosts: we played in water, ate, played some more, ate, lay around, ate, and slept in. I STILL can't find my USB cable to upload my photos, so I was forced to steal MG's from his facebook page!

Here is my youngest and Lovely Partner on the pontoon. Youngest was never far from the fishing pole - she's a native Minnesotan after all. Only a few nibbles but folks around us were catching nice large mouth bass.

Here is yours truly and hubby. I look more and more like my father with each passing year. Pretty soon I'll be sucking on my front teeth and eating 2 packages of graham crackers dunked in milk at bedtime. But I doubt I'll start smoking Swisher Sweets.

The twins, doing what they do best.

I started a google image search for "old pontoon" and this came up. Funny.
But MG's is much nicer.

The next "old pontoon" image to come up was from his blog!!!!

A HUGE thank you to MG and Lovely Partner for sharing paradise.

Brain Fart of Epic Proportions

Interesting Labor Day!

We had a family day and headed for one of our favorite eateries: Cossetta's in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota. Cossetta's in just one block from the Xcel Energy Center, which is now hosting the Republican National Convention. But we both had a major brain fart and forgot. The blocked streets, police presence, and the large numbers of icky young men in suits reminded us of just who was in town. For those of you who don't know, St. Paul is a highly DEMOCRAT community and I'm proud to say the OBAMA-FRANKEN-ETC lawn signs were out in abundance.

The traffic was just too much so we headed up the hill to beautiful Grand Avenue and had the best ever lunch at Salut Bar Americain. I had the seafood crepes and we all stuffed ourselves with the best french fries I've ever eaten - or as they say pommes frites.

Then we enjoyed a lovely walk down Grand Avenue. Twin #2 and I had a spontaneous walk-in haircut while the rest enjoyed the $1 for 1-minute chair massages.

Then home to pack backpacks and fill out paperwork for tomorrow is the first day of school. I'll miss these little critters!!

When I can't sleep, I find good jokes

I was up at all hours last night with unexplained insomnia. Well, not quite unexplained - you take a 46-year-old perimenopausal women, mix in a whole lot of stress, take away her money, then just sit back and watch her life go to hell in a handbasket.

Anyway, while up I found The Vicar Of Dibley playing on PBS. LOVE this show - if you've never seen it you're missing come great stuff.

At the end, Geraldine (the Vicar) always tells Alice (played to perfection by Emma Chambers) a joke. Alice never gets it, and becomes upset by the content. You have to see this - it's incredible.

On to last night's joke:
Santa Claus goes to the doctor and says "Doctor, I think there's a mince pie up my bum". The doctor has a good look and say "Yes Santa, I'm afraid you've got a mince pie up your bum. But don't worry, I have some cream for that."
