Grandma's Kitchen

Blogging funny-woman Sheletta reminded me of a story my cousin told.

She was shopping in one of those upscale candle shops - guess in that case it was "shoppes" - and started sniffing the merchandise. The sales person gushed "Oh, you just HAVE to smell this one, it smells exactly like it's name!! Grandma's Kitchen!!"

To which my cousin replied "How'd they get a candle to smell like cigarettes, bacon grease, and a little bit of Hi Lex bleach?"

And that is exactly the description that best sums up Grandma Gie's kitchen! Except you'd have to add strong coffee in there somewhere. Cousin A always comes up with the best one-liners! You'll have to post about her large arm movements in public sometime. Love ya! See you tomorrow!

girl that was so funny you just made me pee on myself. that's exactly what grandma's kitchen smelled like. menthol cigarettes of course, in the short/soft pack. not to be confused with those virginia slims in the long hard pack. i was so delighted when they stopped allowing kids under the age of 18 to purchase the cancer sticks! i got tired of going to the store for the packs of winston 100 and the case of diet coke!

Wow, I didn't realize so many of us had smoking grandmas.
Happy/IA, I discovered you a couple weeks ago. I posted today about Postville & Decorah, IA. I'm thinking you're from Decorah, so I thought I'd let you know, in case you were interested.

I enjoy your blog.
