Sticky Situation

It's time to make jam - and I'm damn jam good at it!
Homemade low-sugar jam is not only much tastier than store-bought, but it's easier on our budget in the long run.
But what do you do when you don't have the cash to resupply your canning supplies AND buy the large quantities of sugar and berries?  I need a farm or a micro-loan!

I"m going to have to make more jam next week when I get money. I'm thinking some kind of peach blend.

Here's what I did last year for peach jam and it was amazing! Split a vanilla bean in half and bury the halves in all the sugar you'll use for the peach jam. Leave it there for at least 2 days. Can be reused in more sugar later.

That looks fabulous. This is why I want money. Sure, I want to pay my bills, but I'd love to give you that microloan so you can make jam. I'd also buy some jam.

Also, Dr. Monkey's Fig Bomb was the bomb. You jam makers rock.

I've never made my own jam but it is such a delicious idea. I actually have a bunch of mason jars, jam-size, that my mother-in-law used to use. Dad was going to throw them out but I said I'd take them. Now I just have to learn how to make jam. Enjoy!
