Regrets? I've had a few

Don't you hate those people who say they have no regrets? How can you live beyond the age of 15 and not have any regrets? Do they just stay home locked in the bathroom? And wouldn't that be a regrettable action? Or maybe I'm the only human on Earth who screws up from time to time.

My regrets:

Not finishing my teaching degree
Letting myself get so heavy
Losing my temper with my kids at times
Letting my house be my largest investment
That I didn't write the Harry Potter series
That I ever EVER backed John Edwards
Being such a smart ass to my parents
All the stupid things I've said
Not investing in Apple

Things I DON'T regret
Marrying Johnny C
Having kids
Moving to Minnesota
Learning to drive stick
NEVER getting a tattoo
Starting this blog

Everybody has regrets. If they say they don't, they are either in line for sainthood, or have some type of head trauma causing memory loss.

In the grand scheme, your regrets are small.............and you are blessed.
I have regrets..........some bigger than I care to admit!

I regret briefly backing Edwards also. He's a stinking dirty pervy creep.

I think you make a great point here. And I always say - and your list makes a similar point - much regret is based on what we do not do, rather than what we actually do.

I don't regret backing Edwards. I mean - who knew? What he did was shitty, but there was no way to know that. He has his own regrets, I don't need to carry his too. Everyone, in one way or another disappoints us. It is what we do with that, I think, that further defines regret if we let it.

Does that sound lecture-y? Probably. I may regret putting it that way.

In the end - I think your friend Anita says it well - some are bigger than others!

You know, every one needs a few regrets. I am glad the good outweighs the bad. Can we please just think Edwards an insignificant fuckwit?

Funny- my regret list could be yours, down to the teaching degree.

John Edwards- yuk.

I have plenty of regrets, but I try not to wallow in them. I have to look at them like, if I don't like the things I did before, how can I learn from them and not make the same mistakes in the future. It's tough to figure out the lessons sometimes.

I have two tatoos, but I love them.

I wonder how I will convince boo boo la la to NOT get one?

Ha--very thought-provoking. Uh yes, I regret all the times I yell at my daughters. However they drive me crazy sometimes so it's inevitable. As for John Edwards, good lord, did you see that Dateline on Friday night?! Could he BE more despicable?! Talk about a low, low, low person. Blech.

That type of list might be like therapy, as long as one can say about the regrets: I did the best I could with what I had at the time.

I love your lists of regrets and non-regrets. Would make a good meme, maybe will try to start it (giving credit to you of course!)

Not investing in Apple... I wondering how many millions of people have that on their lists:)

I agree with another poster, your regrets are pretty small in the scheme of things and we all have them.

I remember when Apple's rivals were Commodore and Atari... and Apple's offerings did not near as much and cost 4 times as much. I would have never guessed that the company would last so long, and outlast them all.
