Gotta weigh in on this . . .

So Sarah Palin's teenage daughter is 5 months pregnant and will marry the teenage father of her child. Well isn't that just lovely?! My thoughts . . .

1. We should leave them to deal with this matter in private? Absolutely yes. But in exchange I'd like Sarah Palin to get the hell out of my reproductive life and those of my daughters. Whether or not you carry a baby to term, put it in an adoptive home, abort, marry, become a single Mom, etc is just plain no one else's business. Turn around is fair play Mrs. Palin.

2. I'm still questioning whether Mrs. Palin's 4th baby is indeed her own, and not the child of her oldest daughter. Too many stinky questions and facts that just don't fit. Not that I really care, but lying has become all too easy for these conservatives.

3. So, how's that "abstinence only" sex education thing working out for them?

4. Sarah Palin is up to her neck in scandals and questionable behavior. She claims the Founding Fathers wrote the Pledge of Allegiance and put in the "under God" part. Her minions claim that living close to Russia makes her able to understand foreign relations. Mrs. Palin - I work for a college but it doesn't make me a professor.

5. Women will vote for her ticket because she's a woman??? My God what year is this?? 1957?

6. I hate her hair. Just had to get something catty in there.

I love you.
You are brilliant.

No really- you are. And I do.

Heheheh.

Get out of my womb! I wrote about the topic this morning. I am not for it, but you know what... what you do is your concern and I respect that and stay out of it.

Something many people in our fine land can't seem to get a good grasp on.

For people who quote the Bible a lot they seem to not quite get that whole "plank in their own eye" thing, huh?

You evil blogger. ;)

Who vetted this woman? And did they do it after they announced her, or before? Because I just can't see how she's going to stand up to high scrutiny.

And did these two high school kids know they would make international news for having unprotected sex? As if their lives weren't complicated enough...

#3 was the first thing that popped in my head when I heard the news. In fact, teenage pregnancy rates, after decades of decline, are going up. I posted about it a few months ago.

I can't believe any woman would vote for Palin just because she's a woman. Reagan was a white male of Irish ancestry just like me, but I had utter contempt for the guy. Just because someone is of your demographic doesn't mean that they share your political and economic interests. Any woman who votes for Palin just because she's a woman is, as blogger Vikki put is so well, is not just an idiot but a f*cking idiot.

The more I look up the thing on her son, the more suspicious it appears. Those Republicans sure have trouble with the truth, don't they?

Why is it that Republicans go on and on about "freedom" and the first thing they always want to do is restrict things like free expression and the right of women to choose what happens with their bodies?

Great post. I'm boggled by the craziness of the Palin pick, which only seems to get worse as the days go one. I'm almost hoping that McCain sticks with her all the way through November 4. I can't see how it's a bad thing for the Democrats.

I am not too keen on her glasses. Bravo!

I keep thinking about how archaic it is for her daughter to marry the baby daddy. As if getting married makes it all ok. She is 17! It is 2008!

If I married the boys I liked when I was 17....I cannot imagine what my life would be like....

At first I thought this situation was outrageous. Now I just feel sad. For that family and for us as a nation.

Amen!

But seriously: WHAT IS UP with that supposed pregnancy with her youngest child? I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone when I see the photo of her supposedly 7 months pregnant and she's.....totally normal looking. No sign whatsoever of even a small baby-belly. Huh?! And her staff was reportedly stunned when she announced she was 7 mos. pregnant, because she'd never spoken of it or given any indication whatsoever that she was pregnant, not did she look pregnant? Huh?!

I'm so, so confused. I am dying to know the truth. What in the world is going on with this family?

i don't care that the girl is pregnant. these things do happen.

what i care about it is whether or not she's going to get forced into marriage just to make the family look good.

that bugs me.

Like Franiam said, I love you. Seriously.

I don't know why it took me so long to find you on this internet but now that I have found you I will never let you go.

I have said four or more of these six things in the last two days to various people. AMEN. GODSPEED. Or something.

It was a deeply cyncial, deeply confused choice made by the McCain camp.
Can you still fake a pregnancy in this day in age? I mean really, could she have NOT given birth to the special needs child?
