No Shame

Six innocent bystanders are dead in Arizona.  An elected official, a wife, a mother, lies in a hospital bed with a bullet wound through her brain.  A couple in Tucson will bury their 9-year-old daughter.

Yet Sarah Palin wants us to watch her video and reflect on how hurt SHE is by the nation scrutinizing her words, actions, and political images.

Can she truly not understand this moment?  Must she really interject HER hurt feelings right now?

I have pledged in my own heart to end vitriolic rhetoric when I hear it, and to not write it myself anymore.  Therefore I will refrain from name-calling or hyperbolic metaphor both in my speech and my written words.  But I will not refrain from calling out bad behavior.  And her behavior right now is crass at best.  Has she no shame in the end?

I think, judging by the things Ms. Palin has done and said over the past couple of years and now, over the past few days too, that you answered your own question, didn't you? Crass is a mild term for the likes of her, in my opinion!
Good post though. Too bad she and her followers probably will never see the words you wrote and if they did, I kind of think they probably would fall on deaf ears anyway. Keep the faith, Baby! Oh, and Peace!

Those who seek political fame feel only their own pain. The best we can do is not react with the same level of emotion. The best thing we can do is ignore her. It may take a while but even she will fade from our attention and we will see her name only when reflecting on "What happened in history on this day." SMILE

I'm right there with you. I can't stand the hate speech and the violent under/overtones. I choose not.

It's the same bad behavior that allowed John Bhoener to decline a ride on Air Force 1 to the memorial. Instead he attended a fundraising cocktail party...where he surely blubbered about having to have once held a job.

I am a conservative and I do not like Sarah Palin. I cannot believe how much she riles you people up. Just forget about her, save your energy. It's really quite amusing to me how much you liberals react to her. Give it up already, she's irrelevant.

I like the way you distinguish between citing behaviors and using rhetorical speech. Good approach.

Before Nixon and Raygun today's typical rightwinger would have been considered fringe and slightly crack-pot. What was once moderate is now almost radical. Politically, the theory of relatively has changed the nation and tolerance has become an antique.

I do not think this woman is anything more than an overgrown child who has had television cameras aimed at her since she was called out to run as vice president with John McCain. We should no more listen to her than go play in heavy traffic. Unfortunately, the media keeps talking and talking and talking about her.

However, if the talk doesn't stop, and she keeps putting her rifle sights on those she hates, and she encourages the soft of brain to follow her, then she will need to be treated like a criminal.

Taraj - it's not so much SP herself, but all the attention and adoration given her by thousands of people. There are plenty of truly smart women on the right to idolize. But for some reason your folks are just enamored of this beauty queen who has nothing of substance to say. Give her a talk show and let her beloved free market determine her success or failure.

I agree with you...and like you, I don't get it. I liken her to the GOP's John Edwards...she will be the cause of her own political demise.

The last comment is right on... she will be her own political demise.
