Who Knew?

SAN FRANCISCO, California (CNN) -- The California Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld a ban on same-sex marriage that state voters passed in November, but it allowed about 18,000 marriages performed before the ban to remain valid.

Who knew IOWA would be more progressive than California? Shame on you, CA Supreme Court. Shame on you.

Look...California is about to go totally bankrupt and for once upon a time, being a leading state in the union, it has gone to the dogs. Thanks Terminator!!! I certainly hope that another "Proposition" will be on the ballot to rectify this error - since that appears to be the type of government they have.

18,000 marrriages are legal still? Shit, that's 17,999 fewer than my legal marriages! It's a huge victory.

Oh, sorry, 17,998-- I had two failed marriages. That's two fewer than my best friend, who is gay and was the best man at my marriage.

I know, it's really shameful. However, it's really all the fault of the stupid proposition system they have there in the first place, as you mentioned. I'm not even sure it's the Terminator's fault. Civil rights can't be determined by the "majority" - too many chances for the "majority" to be influenced by deceitful hateful advertising, and by their own prejudices. I hope this will be reversed at some point soon. One thing I've noticed in my 56 years of being around, is that this country always gradually goes toward more justice and more freedom, and not toward less. (The past 8 years notwithstanding). It just takes time; but that's no comfort to those whose rights are still not recotnized.

Whoops, sorry, it was TheMom who said that about the propositions, not MnMom! ;-)

I keep saying this, but if California thinks it doesn't need the money that comes from tons of double professional income, no kids couples visiting the state to get married, then Iowa will take it. Thank you very much.
