Great TV shows of childhood #5

We lived for this show, DANIEL BUNN and others like it.  It was quite the genre of the 1960's - manly pioneers being manly men and doing manly things with other manly men.  A few manly natives thrown in for contrast.  And of course loyal loving pioneer women with grit, tiny waists and thick eyeliner.  But I always got angry at their weakness & stupidity, and the creepy portrayal of Native Americans. Even as a young girl I knew the blame lay with the writers.

I was always more attracted to the Native American sidekick in these shows.  The white guys bored me.

The Spanish voice over adds something, no?  What a Boone, what a do-er, what a dream-come-a-truer was he!  And he fought to make all Americans free, unless you were Native American, then he just tolerated you as his hunting pal as long as you bowed down to his manly white superiority.

It's funny. I've never seen the show. I just remember the theme song.I did love those back the wild kinds of shows, though. In the 70's they were generally a little more PC at least...But only a little.
