Late Winter

Wah, the Olympics is over. Now it's back to my dreary day-to-day life. I have nothing to blog about. No thoughts, no incidents, no observations.

And I've got gas from a taco pizza.

I made a kick-butt pounded steak dish today. I finally got it as tender as my Grandma's. Coupled it with homemade mashed potatoes. Yesterday I whipped up a batch of slightly whole wheat cinnamon rolls. When I get bored I cook.

Everybody is fine, the sun is out, it's getting warmer, the giant piles of snow are slowly melting, Monday morning comin' on in 9 hours.

SPRING in Minnesota means many things: mud, puddles, blizzards, more mud, and gray skies. March can often be the snowiest month here. And there's always a giant snowstorm for the boy's high school basketball tournament.

Johnny C got a part time, temporary job as a project manager with a construction company! Let's hope it turns into something permanent. Anyway, because he's just starting, we won't be going to NYC for Spring Break.

Not complaining here, this is just a very bland time of the year.

Congrats to John! I totally get it about this time of year. It IS bland, grim, mundane. I feel like I have nothing of interest to say or do either. Everything bores me. Sigh! Clearly we need more sun, longer days, and warmer temps.

March is a great month! You can look forward to my birthday!
I think that Rex and I need to come up for a visit...get out of the routine. Love you and congrats to JohnnyBear!

Two birthdays in this family in March, other than that, I'm not too crazy about March, unless it is sunny + cold. When other people here (N Minn) say, on a warm-ish day, "Oh, I hope the snow all melts." I just think, "I'd rather have snow a long time than mud a long time" which is what we get if the snow leaves too early. Mud or frozen mud. But you can't beat the nice blue skies and sun this time of year. Free heat for the house.

Congrats to your hubbie! My brother has been trying to get me to move to Madison for years, but I can't take how long Winters last in Iowa, adding another month or two to that would make me go all "Shining" on people. Hang in there.

I love March. Gray snow in January is depressing until it's covered with white snow, but gray snow now will probably melt away soon and leave behind some grass. Which is fine, even to this winter-lover.

Congratulations to John on the new job! I hope it's reasonably good, as a job goes, and that maybe it even leads to something better as the economy picks up.

Hooray for the job- I'll send good thoughts your way for a permanent position. I drove through Northfield twice today- on my way to and from Rochester. I thought of you and wished I knew where to find you to go have coffee. But since you suffer from gas, well...

I like March because you can see that winter is on it's way out the door. Up where you live though it might take a while longer!

Yay for the job for your hubs. I know how much I hated any winter after January or so. I hope warm weather comes soon.
When I'm bored I cook too........and I eat.....way too much.
