Too Big to Succeed
Ever think the good ole USA is just too darned big to succeed?
Europeans are always mocking our outrageous elections, our ongoing infighting, our inability to agree on anything, and our soccer team.
We have almost 310 million people here, some of them actual humans. Germany's got a mere 82 million, England has maybe 60 million, Sweden has a tiny 9 million if you can stay ahead of the suicide counts. China has over 3 BILLION folks but they are all, well, Chinese and not an enormous tossed salad of cultures and colors like America.
How in the world can Blue Minnesota ever come to a meeting of the minds with Alabama? How can Massachusetts ever compromise with Arizona?
What would happen if we actually did what the Rebels of the 1860's proposed and enforce strong state's rights - strong enough to be considered nations? What if we actually divided into smaller nations, say the Southeast, the Midwest, the West, etc.? What if the anti-tax folks actually had to live in their own stink, plow their own roads, and school their own kids? How long before they come streaming, armed, over our borders to take a chunk of our universal medical care, clean water, public education, state universities, and safe parks?

Oh, those anti-tax folks would never admit they had made a mistake.
I fear, that if our country became divided, that they would creep, armed, into the liberal nation and kidnap folks to be their slaves. Their dark, sooty cities would create acid rain in the liberal nation. Their evacuees would flood into the liberal nation.
Perhaps the anti-tax people would just do themselves in. There would be no money for medical research there (except to find a cure for hemorrhoids). They would die from an outbreak of something that they couldn't cure, and eventually the happy liberal national could reclaim the (extremely damaged) land.
You crack me up! And this, my friend, is a fantasy I often consider. Don't want to be part of a civilized society? Here you go. Tell us how you like those Somalian conditions. If you survive.
How their heads don't explode from teh stoopit is something I can't figure out for the life of me.
They aren't anti-tax...they are the "tenth-ers." "The powers not delegated to the United States by the constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." Pray tell, where is it in the constitution that the federal government has the power to enact a law forcing the people to purchase a product...i.e. health insurance? Commerce clause? I don't buy it.
As long as I don't have to live in the tea bagger states I'm down. I like having national parks and public schools and street lights.
I'm going to have to get my Kindergartener up (who is in Chinese immersion) to translate that last comment.
I can only imagine what it says...
ha-ha-ha!
"Their dark, sooty cities would create acid rain in the liberal nation."
Probably, as the "liberal nation" keeps enacting policies to force all the factory jobs out. These policies are well underway in blue-state Michigan.
Taraj is right. If these so-called "anti-tax" people had their way, we'd still be paying taxes. Just not such an excessive amount. And no more massive waste such as this.
