Answer me this

Here's a question for you. What if we lived in a world where everyone had the exact same access to everything: food, clothing, housing, medical care, goods, transportation, education, you get the picture. No one needs money. The only stipulation is that you had to work 20-40 hours per week somewhere.

Where would you work?

In a children's bookstore just like the one in "You've Got Mail." But without the whole giant-conglomerate-threatens-to-put-quaint-charming-indie-bookstore-out-of-business part.

Probably something with computers. And sewing. But not automatic sewing machines that do embroidery run by a computer.

Maintaining trails in some National Park.

I'd still be working in the library!

You know, I'd be pretty happy doing my same job, which is - I hope - a helpful, socially constructive one. That, or maybe researching beer.

Also: Margaret, you are a COMMIE. (Which is good, as far as I'm concerned.)

I'd be a writer, it could be writing for a newspaper or magazine or books, but I would write, with a cup of coffee at my side, happily for 8 hours a day.
My second choice would be to own a little book store, one with comfy chairs and coffee, that just invites patrons to come in and browse more before buying.

Sorry to hear about the house.

I'd probably do some kind of landscaping job. I love physical labor and working outside. Plus, it's creative.

In a national park, but not doing trail maintenance. I'd work on preserving cultural resources (historic structures and landscapes).
