First Night on the Screened Porch

We got all crazed with Spring Fever tonight and had supper on the screened porch. Ours is rather like the one pictured only older, more worn down, and dirtier. But the siding and sliding glass door are remarkably similar.
It was warm and humid in Minnesota all day due to the oncoming rain, and we soaked up every single minute. First we washed the thick winter dust layer off the table and chairs. Then quickly set the table with pasta, salad, bread, wine, strawberries, and brownies. We wolfed down the last bite just before the cold front blew in in a big way. We were wrapped in sweatshirts and holding down the tablecloth by the brownie course but by golly, WE ATE ON THE SCREENED PORCH!! Sometimes you just have to FORCE Spring to arrive here.

Wish we could all have been around that table with you and finished dinner with a pot of espresso with Zambuca (sp?) and Angie Cookies!

It got cold here this weekend too. It dropped below 60. I nearly put on some long pants.

I love it! I wish I had a screen porch. I just sat by the window screen to eat my Kashi this morning. It is sunny today!

Though our winters in Chicago are not quite as harsh as yours in Minneapolis, we are similarly ridiculous; the first moderately warm day, we all go apeshit, running around in shorts and t-shirts, getting out on bikes (motor and bicycles), sailboats, etc. even if it's not that warm.

I pulled the storm window out of the back screen door and put the screen in on Sunday, so its officially spring here.

Oh, man. That sounds fabulous. We're going to have to move a few dinners outside soon. With two kids under four, this will make cleanup a lot better - sweep the crumbs into the bushes and let the birds handle it!

Also: wine.
