Decisions, Decisions

OK, it's time to confess, I can't decide between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama!
On the Clinton end, I think she is one tough cookie with a mind like a steel trap. She would NEVER back down from a challenge. She knows all the insiders and how Washington and the White House operate. But I'm tired of the same old stories from Washington.

On the Obama end, this man can unite like no one I've ever witnessed. He can look at problems from so many angles and not fall back to knee-jerk responses to please his "base", whatever his base may be. And I'm ready for a new direction.

Let me hear from you - what are your opinions?

I've had enough of political family dynasties in this country. Let's elect the black dude and see if he can do better.

As you know, I'm an Obama delegate in here Iowa both at district convention and at the state convention in June. Not because I don't think Hillary would be a great leader, but simply because in our caucuses in this county back in January, the Clinton camps in every single precinct were not viable until after the SECOND reorganizing took place. Had it been a primary instead of a caucus, Clinton would not have had any delegates from this county in Iowa. Therefore, I chose to support Obama to give real voice to real votes.

i can't give an opinion because of my job.

but i will say that we have had 8 years of a president who was elected because of his personality--he seemed like a nice guy, a guy that we can all go have a beer with.

i say, forget the pleasant personality. i want someone who is smart and knows what's going on and will make the right decisions.

I'd pick Hillary over McCain any day of the week, but I'm backing Obama. He's a righteous dude.

Either one will be a great president, but I think that the country's in sufficiently dire straits that we need someone like Obama more than we need someone like Clinton. I'm not quite as starstruck as some Obama supporters (like any big candidate, he's tight with the corporations, for instance), but he does have some ideas that he's not afraid to advocate, such as ending the war asap. That, I can respect more than Clinton's more measured (mealy-mouthed?) approach to pretty much every problem or issue, ever.

I agree with your opinions about both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, MNMom. And I think either one will/would make a great president, too. Hillary's amazing in many ways, and how awesome would it be to have a woman--a MOM--as leader of this country? But, in the end, I'm for Obama right now. I believe in the depths of my soul that this country is in a terrible state, and I truly believe that Obama carries with him hope, and can give the country hope, which is what we need for change. For the last 8 years I've been full of a sense of learned helplessness about this country---feeling defeated and pessimistic; but I think Obama is our chance at change, and that it's a matter of life and death, in many ways. That's where I'm at right now, anyway.

Obama.

This latest sniper fire bit from Clinton was just too much.

Obama. Hillary is really pissing me off right now, and I was a fan.

Did you see the article in today's New York Times about how family youngsters are persuading their parents to vote for Obama? This was the case indeed in my family. My son's been pulling for him since he first ran for Senate a couple of years ago.
