My Sarah Palin theory

You just can't make this stuff up.

See the clip here.

This vacuous woman is the new definition of stupid.  And she's not even aware how stupid she is.  I'm embarrassed FOR her!
But here's my serious theory on her popularity.
It's ALL her looks.  All of it.  Women are still judged on their appearance, and it totally trumps anything they have to say.

Men want her to wink at them, men want to think she'd date them.  Women want her to smile at them.  Women want to be her BFF.  Of course I don't mean all men and women, but you know folks who meet this definition.

Imagine of she looked like Bella Abzug?
Imagine of she looked like Billie Jean King?
What if she looked like Barbara Bush?
What if she had giant cankles and bad skin?
Think she'd get away with claiming Paul Revere rode through town with gun shots and bells to protect our 2nd amendment rights?
Would the press be salivating and crawling all over themselves to get a photo?

There just can't be any other explanation.  It's just like High School.  A girl can be a total ass right down to her skanky little heart, but if she's hot she can get away with murder.

Exactly, and have you ever seen more fools defend their queen fool? Amazing!

I heard that some tea-baggers were actually trying to edit wikipedia in favor of her view of Paul Revere. Yes, defend her by rewriting the facts as you want them to be. Shameful.

I agree 100%. There is no other explanation.

One thing good looks won't get you is a break from the liberal media though. As a conservative, I don't care for her one bit. Sorta like I don't care for Barack Obama one bit...and I have to think that one of the main reasons he was elected was because of our pop culture society..it's cool to elect a black man. He was and is not qualified for the job and I think that's quite apparent now. It's not about his skin color, it's about his qualifications. Being Senator for 1.5 years is not enough. Will be interesting to see what this upcoming election brings. I think we are truly a dumbed-down society and it's not boding well for us.

Her looks and her "folksy, non-threatening" way of speaking. She's pretty, but not TOO pretty and she's ignorant...Like many of her voters. Sigh.

she represents all that America is fast becoming

The popularity she enjoys is based on physical appearance -- agreed -- but she's not that popular. I would be angry about the unfair media attention, except I hope she runs; it would brighten President Obama's re-election prospects.

Her looks definitely help, but I think also we as a culture have fallen in love with ignorance. At some point, having a good education became a liability in politics, you're cast as an "Ivy League Elitist" or whatever. And scientists can't be trusted on subjects like global warming because they're a bunch of pointy-headed intellectuals. It's no wonder so many people loved Dubya. They're the same ones who worship Palin.

If she can do all she's done with the (lack of) brains she's got, there is still hope for me to be a millionaire. I just realized after taking inventory of what you've said here and Sara's road to fame, I've been trying too hard. I need to dumb it down and watch the dollars start rolling in!

I agree about the dumbing down of America. Mrs. P is in the same group as Newt and Rand and whole host of people who become trade on celebrity and manipulate the people. Our job as American citizens is look at all with a cynic's eye.
