What would you do?

Scenario: Husband and youngest are gone on a trip. I allow the teen twins to have 6 friends over, including 2 boys, to watch a movie. I lay out a really nice supper for them, clean up said supper, and drive them all to a teen dance after the movie.

Problem: during the evening, I was told by my own daughters to leave the room, not say anything, and to quit coming into the room. Not to mention that neither daughter thanked me.

I'm ready to pop a cork but want to think about this first. Ideas?

explain to them that the next time they dare to act so ungratfully, you will pick them up from school wearing your underwear on the outside.

I have been assuring my girls that I am not above humiliating myself to make a point.

I suppose its too late to stuff 'em back in and start over.
So, in lieu of that, I might sit them down tomorrow, have a little talk about respecting your parents, and let them know that next time they act like disrespectful, ungrateful little ingrates that you will promptly send their friends home and stop the evening's activities ASAP.
Then, of course, if you are a good Northeastern Iowan you will shame them for the rest of their lives.

Alternately, you could review the Dawn Davenport parenting video on my blog and see if you kind find a few pointers. I recall she mentions something about a car aerial.

Walk them to their first hour class for a week and very loudly say hello to the other kids who were at the party and ask them if they had a good time.

Then ask kids you don't know if they know your twins and invite them over.
